Can't speed up time

March 22, 2021

Let’s say, for fun, that you have an infection in your toenails that turns them sparkly blue. You would really prefer them to be a different color, but to do that, they need to grow clear. You go to the doctor, and she prescribes you some medicine that you need to take once a day for 12 weeks. She also says you need to change your socks every day so your feet don’t start growing sparkly blue. So, each day you change your socks, and each day you take your pill.

It would be nice if you could see the final result immediately, but you can’t, because the crucial ingredient with this problem is time. You could try changing your socks more frequently, taking more pills, different kinds of pills. You could think all of the time about the sparkly blue toenails, read forums online about other people who ended up turning entirely sparkly blue, but none of this will bring you closer to the last day of the 12 weeks. Only time will.

When time is the crucial ingredient, do everything that you can do, and then get on with your life.

Wash your hands.
