Getting the vaccine
April 05, 2021
I want to get the vaccine. It seems like all of my friends are getting it. How? Buncha different ways. One of them woke up at 3am in the morning to go to a parking lot on a tip that he got from his friend. Another got hers in Wisconsin. Another drove five hours to get it.
We are the ones that are left, here in Chicago, the basically healthy, non-essential workers who are not a part of any vaccination group whatsoever. Outside of Chicago, eligibility is opening up to anyone on April 12th. Inside Chicago, we still don’t know when salvation will come.
We know the names of the vaccines: Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson. We know that the first two are two-doses and the latter is one-and-done. We know that the neighborhoods that were disproportionately affected by COVID are not being vaccinated at disproportionately high rates, and we know that we want to be vaccinated too, to go back to normal. Please, let’s go back to normal.
And then maybe this normal will be better than last time.
