How to get set up for a good remote meeting

January 19, 2021

  1. Remember that you have a meeting. It helps to check your calendar early in the day to get a sense of your schedule. (This might be incredibly obvious to people who have lots of meetings, but for people who do not, it is very easy to forget the ones that we do have).
  2. Go to the bathroom before your meeting.
  3. Get your water, tea, or other liquids you like to drink ready about 2 minutes before.
  4. Have ready your notebook, silly putty, or whatever it is you like to use that helps you maintain focus.
  5. While in the meeting, avoid looking at any other content aside from a blank document you have open where you can take notes and write thoughts. If you notice the urge to check email, slack, the news, etc, don’t do it.
  6. Enjoy your meeting!

Wash your hands.
