Different audiences

The audience does not change the performer. The audience changes the performance. The performer may choose, given different audiences, to perform in different ways, based on what might be most effective.

Over time, the audience helps the performer discover new types of performing and different ways she may interact with the audience. This is something the performer cannot do on her own. In this way, the performer is dependent on the audience.
